Are you working for money or personal development?

Posted by admin on May 31, 2009 under Personal Development

I define personal development in this case when the work you do is something that helps you grow as a professional and individual.
Working for money is normally when someone works something that is not necessary what you like but helps you to get your economic goals.

I guess I’ve been lucky , I started by going for the personal development thing, college apprenticeship etc etc.
Then started work in my chosen field, still with my eye on personal development mainly via experience related to my job.
I found myself going up the ladder, then one day I saw the light, I had a nice office , I was now a manager, good salary, pension deal etc all the perks.
I was looking at the array of pencils I had just sharpened, great days work!!!
I then thought this isn’t what I want to be doing.I was getting good money in the UK for what?
I had been reading a UK National newspaper, Engineering jobs available , I went back to it.
I got an interview, I got the job with an American company working in Saudi , 3 times the salary I was on at the time, no tax, free accomadation, free food, free trips home on leave to the UK!
So I had money and doing the job I wanted, I never looked back.
Now retired and I dont regret giving up this personal development thing, In fact I dont regret any part of my working life.
I wish I had a formula to share with other folk, but I dont . Just go with whatever makes you happy , by all means suffer a bit at first get your qualifications and experience , choose your field of work with a great deal of thought , and good luck to you all.

To have good healthy living, what kind of fruits and how many are recommended daily?

Posted by admin on May 31, 2009 under Healthy Living

These fruits are the kind that can make somebody live a healthy life, and probaly add to longevity.
The fruits are also the kind that can serve medicinal value, especilly for smoebody suffering from arthritis; the pain relieving ones for this purpose.

Recommendations are for 5 to 8 servings of fruit per day. A serving is half cup cooked fruit or 1 cup raw. A fruit is any thing with a seed in it. So tomatoes and peppers are actually in the fruit lists.

Peppers have capsicum in them which is supposed to be beneficial to people suffering from arthritis or other pain.

How much does it cost to go to a holistic healing/ alternative medicine ‘doctor’?

herbal treatments for disease…
I would like to hear about any experiences!
Thanks!

It’s going to depend alot on where you live, and what exact kind of doctor you are going to. Expect to spend around $100-$200 for the first session, and then some modalities will charge slightly less for follow-up sessions.

One thing you can do to help deal with the costs is check and see if there are any teaching clinics near you for the modality you are looking for. For acupuncture, naturopathy, shiatsu, herbalism, and homeopathy, I will usually go to the student clinic where I get excellent care under several doctors (a student and usually 1-2 supervising doctors) rather than just one. These clinic prices are usually around $25-$40 per session, and often offer further discounts if you pre-pay for several sessions up front. This saves you ALOT of money, while still providing you with good care.

I have gotten more and more frustrated with regular doctors over the years - I still go for check ups and lab work, but for most other things I will always see a alternative/holistic practitioner. My health has improved dramatically in the last 5 years that I have been handling my health this way. I find acupuncture, naturopathy, chiropractic, and massage the most helpful for my conditions - but you may likely be different.

If you are looking for a holstic practitioner to be your primary caregiver, I would suggest a naturopath.

Good luck!

What natural remedies would you recommend for help with shyness and fear of public speaking?

Posted by admin on May 31, 2009 under Natural Remedies

I'm looking for herbs and natural remedies that will take the edge off that might help me to relax in social situations. Thanks

Take deap breaths, practice what you are going to say when public speaking and imagine the entire audience has no clothes on!

recommend a self help book on trust?

Posted by admin on May 31, 2009 under Self Help

im looking for a book to help me regain trust in somebody who did something bad but is truly sorry. anyone know of a book on relationships?
thanks for nothing :)
You don't need a self-help book.

There is no such thing as a self-help book. These books are written by morons who think that telling yourself you can do something means it will get done.

You need to not be such a wuss and fix your own problems. No magical book is going to fix them for you.

…Sorry 'bout that, but I was in a similar situation a few years back, and I thought I would need help too. Took me forever to realize i needed to help myself.
