what is a personal development class?

I am in the 8th grade now and i’m taking a personal development class, I just wanted to know what it was about.

You’re right to wonder what this class means, because it could mean a lot of different things. It depends a bit on what approach your school and/or teacher choose for the class. "Personal development" is sort of a catch-all term for anything that makes you a better person.

Some topics that may (or may not) be covered could include:

* How to study well or be organized
* How to cope with changing classes, schedules, etc. in high school
* How to cope with peer pressure, frustrations with your parents, or other teen issues
* What are your personality traits, skills, gifts? Get to "know yourself"
* What type of career should you consider?
* How to handle money
* Health issues: drugs, anorexia, sex ed, organ donation, acne, showering after PE, etc.)
* Dealing with your emotions (anger, sadness, grief, etc.)
* Watching cheesy videos on any of the above topics - then discussing or journaling about them.
* Trying out new skills = archery, cross-stitch, photography, line dancing, or whatever else they dream up to "develop" you
* Anything else the principal, superintendant, or school board decided kids should learn that doesn’t fit neatly into an academic class.

This class could really be anything from a study skills class to a social skills class to a health class.. or any combination thereof. You will have to get the real scoop from your teacher. Good luck!

Interpreting the Declaration of Independence Please help?

I need help i had to interpret parts of the declaration now i need to get info on how other people interpret it i need interpretations for each paragraph
Paragraph 1:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Paragraph 2:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Paragraph 3:

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Paragraph 4:

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Paragraph 5:

Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain [George III] is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

1) When a people find it necessary to break free of another government, public opinion requires them to state why.

2) We believe it obvious that all men should be treated as equal before the eyes of the law, that there are certain rights which must be respected by every government, and that among these rights are (those three listed. I would NEVER try to paraphrase those).

3) If you’re going to change a government, especially one that’s been around for awhile, caution if nothing else says that you shouldn’t do it for trivial reasons. Because of this, we see time and time again that people are more willing to put up with abuses rather than to change things radically.

4) When it becomes obvious, though, that a particular government has become despotic, and intends to continue to subject its people to increasing abuses, it is the duty of the people to end that government and create a better one.

5) We have suffered the abuses we mentioned above, and we must now throw off the government of King George III and establish our own. The facts are as follows:

What does it mean when someone said he finds u rather intriguing, cant help but be pushed away by your self?

esteem problems, and that u seem to fall for guys quickly.

It means exactly what it’s supposed to mean. You fall too quickly, are probably too clingy….both signs of insecurity and low self esteem. I’m sure you have other qualities that he is drawn to, which is why he finds you intriguing. This guy sounds smart. You’d be wise to listen to him. The average guy would just use this weakness to his advantage.

please give me some tips to gain confidence

Try this:

1) Set a specific, realistic goal.
2) Write it down on a carefully prepared chart.
3) Give yourself a deadline to complete it.
4) Think of it as a priority.
5) When you complete it, check it off the list.
7) Set another specific, realistic goal and repeat the process.
8) When you complete ten goals, give yourself a reward.

People with high self-esteem treat themselves with respect. They take care of their appearance. They have good hygiene. They tuck in their shirts. They wear belts. They tie their shoes. They have good posture. They tend not to be covered with piercings and tattoos. The question is, do they do these things because they have high self-esteem or do they have high self-esteem because they do these things? Assume that it’s the latter. And like the saying, "Fake it till you make it," you can gain high self-esteem by acting as if you already have it.

Final point: Self-esteem has to be actively earned and not passively received. Your effort to improve yourself by asking this question is a big step towards earning it. Well done!

i don’t know what caused this but when i was about 5, i got it stuck in my head that going to the bathroom was bad. ever since then ive been trying to keep myself "regular" but i refuse to take a laxative for the rest of my life, its not going to well, and it has become increasingly common for me to have to stop everything im doing just to hold in a sudden strong bowl movement.

PLEASE HELP…….

no jokes that contain the term"full of sh*t" cause I’ve heard that one to d*mn many times!

Something you were taught maybe , and dont remember? It seems that you need some help getting off the laxatives, and training in how to eat so as not to get constipated. YOu are not eating right if you have constipation,
One has to drink at least 2 quarts of water, or 1/2 your body weight , in ounces, of water per day, and eat lots of fiberous foods, fruits, veggies are fibourous, to regulate pooping.
That is enough to regulate anyone, healthy, so they dont need any help whatsoever in going.
If you replace the laxatives with the natural laxatives , like aloe vera gel or plant, that would be much healthier, since aloe also has many health benefits and is ok to take every day. If you get diarrhea with it, then just cut down on how much you take.
t’hen you can get help digging out the memory or whatever made you think this, so you can make the changes you need.

What novel/ self-improvement book would you recommend?

I’m a college student who is going through personal struggles. Most people don’t give me a chance voice my opinions nor do they listen. I’m so concerned about being judged and trying to always please others that I don’t know how to be myself anymore. I’m trying to be more confident and assertive. I need a book to read for the break that will help me understand that I can get past this and that I don’t have to have guilt & anxiety for fear of what people may think about me.

one I really liked is "how to win friends and influence other people"
It has been very useful in my life, Carnegies advice is useful in all endeavours, besides his motivation techniques are great too,

Self Confidence Help? Please?

I really like this guy, and school starts in a few weeks. We’re in different grades, so i won’t see him as much.

I haven’t seen him all summer, and i want to pluck up enough courage to text him and ask him to go on a walk with me, or just come to my house or something. I have a low self-confidence, or a low- self esteem and I really want to see him, but i can’t find the courage to do so..can someone help me? :/

pretend you are not with him when you are with him and just be someone you are normally like you are with your dear ones or close friends and build up your relationship from there. 1st let him be your good friend and then start thinking about dating. achieving this will be your lesson number one in gaining confidence and moving on from there.
dont think about it too much and just do it.
the more you will think the less you will do..
so go go go…

Why don’t self-help books work?

I’ve read several self-help books (library) and I seem to never change. I’m still lazy, unmotivated, and do what I want to regardless of the boiler-plated advice of other "gurus." I read online that people that buy self-help books often buy several and they don’t seem to work from what I’ve read. Your opinion please.

Maybe it’s just you, that you actually want to continue lazy? I myself bought one on stress and it really did help. I am a hundred times more chill now than a year ago. Though you shouldn’t rely on them completely. You really have to consider how to change your ways yourself.
