Helping You Help Yourself

to a muslim if learning ilmu Hikmah to protect myself and help self it is a sin and berdosa ?

Posted by admin on Jan 18, 2011 under Self Help

like help u in martial art , or like pagar loreng of the house or Jinn Harimau

there’s nothing wrong in learning any ilmu. Sins/ syiriks, etc, it all depends on the purpose of learning and how you gonna use it.

If you use it for good purposes, insyallah, its not a sin. BUT, if u are to possed with it, or if you think that because of your knowledge in learning it that helps u or protects u…thats syirik..

subhanallah…

martial art/ pagar loreng..should be ok..coz, that is consider tips / amalan that can protect us.. but, make sure it doesnt clash with our teaching and believes ok.

good luck!

Need help trying to self teach guitar?

Posted by admin on Jan 16, 2011 under Self Help

I have little money as I am a college student but I got a guitar for Christmas over a year ago and have been trying to teach myself ever since. I am not getting very far. Help!

Think of something you do very well, and remember how you got there. Apply a similar approach.

For instance, if you’re a good painter and you practised by sketching celebrity faces, then a good way to teach yourself guitar is by playing along with simple songs ’til you get a repertoire, then change it, or improve on it, etc.

Can you reduce/eliminate high blood pressure/ diabetes by living healthy?

Posted by admin on Jan 13, 2011 under Healthy Living

I’m personally overweight, and while I don’t have these issues, I know it’s a very likely I can start having these problems. For a few months I’ve been dedicated to losing weight (15 lbs so far!).

I was wondering though, if I did have these problems, would they be cured by healthy living and exercise?

Yes and no. You may be able to reduce the effects of these diseases by exercise and low fat and calorie diets, and you may be able to prevent an onset of these diseases by doing the sam things, however the "cure" of these diseases is not usually possible, the symptoms are just controlled or minimized.

How do you help your self esteem?

Posted by admin on Jan 13, 2011 under Self Help

I have very low self esteem, and am working to fix this. Any suggestions would be nice. :)
i know what you mean i used to have really low esteem, due to some emotional problems, but i decided to work on it and started reading books on increasing your self esteem, eg you are all that,a great and powerful book, it was like an awaking for me, if your not really a book person , i suggest you help people who need help in whatever way, that`s a great way to boost your self esteem. a quick fix would be acting like you do have self esteem, it might seem weird at first but then it becomes a part of you. i really wish you good luck!

The difference between confidence, self esteem and security?

Posted by admin on Jan 8, 2011 under Self Help

I am doing doing self help/work on myself. I do feel loads better and changed a lot. However I am a bit confused. I know there’s confidence, self esteem and security. What is the difference between all three? I know insecure means you’re withdrawn from everyone but aren’t all 3 kinda the same?

In sense they are the same because all depend on each other. For instance, if you have low self esteem your confidence wont be much higher. As I see it, most essential for human psyche is self esteem, which is direct measure of how you see yourself. Confidence comes directly from self esteem, if you think you are good and can do something, you will have confidence you can do it. And if you think that you totally bad at something, you will obviously have low confidence in yourself that you can do it. And security depends on self esteem as well and on confidence too to some degree. If you think that you are attractive for other people, you will want to spend time with them and explore possible interactions with them. If you think that you are bad at talking with people you obviously will be trying to avoid contact with people and be insecure.
Hope I summed it up for you, have a nice day.

What are some natural remedies to thicken hair?

Posted by admin on Jan 6, 2011 under Natural Remedies

Since I colored and dyed my hair it has gotten thinner. I want to find some natural remedies because I feel that products will just make my hair worse because of the chemicals in them.

There are none. All claims to the contrary are lies designed to con you into purchasing overpriced items. Coloring and dying your hair is not good for it. If the damage that it does to your hair bothers you more than your natural hair color does then stop dying your hair.

You may want to take measures to promote hair health though in order to help reduce breakage which can thin out the appearance of your hair by reducing the number of hairs per square inch so stop blow drying and use conditioner.

how can you encourage self help skills and independence in children during rest time routines?

Posted by admin on Jan 6, 2011 under Self Help

Just having the same routine every time will be a big help. Otherwise, it kind of depends on the age of the child and how much of these skills they already have. Also, it depends on what you can stand. Can you let a child cry herself to sleep? Or tell a little boy that he can’t get out of bed again until it’s time to get up? He might think that includes no trips to the bathroom and you’ll have to deal with that fallout.
